The ITIL Foundation class provides a fundamental understanding of the key concepts and terms associated with ITIL's view of a service management framework. ITIL Version 3, launched in June 2007, replaces the previous process and operations centric version with one based upon a lifecycle management approach to providing information system services.
The number of subject areas (ITIL also terms these processes) is increased from 11 to 35, and these are discussed within the context of a five stage service lifecycle that includes:
- Service Strategy
- Service Design
- Service Transition
- Service Operation
- Continual Service Improvement
Full information on both the class lesson plan, and the official syllabus (last updated May 1st 2009) are accessible with a registration from the right hand navigation menu. All class participants receive complimentary access to both an online learning option, used for preparation and review, and an online exam testing facility containing over 1500 questions.
