Today the custodians of the ITInfrastructure Library (ITIL), the Office of Government Commerce (OGC)announced a project to update the ITIL core publications – a ‘new edition’.

extreme-makeover-itilv3-mini.gifThe announcement entitled, ‘OGCMandate for Change’, describes a number of issues existing with the currentcore publications. 

While deferringa need for a new version, and the inclusion of new concepts, it does emphasizethat the existing publications, and especially the Service Strategy book,contain significant issues. 

In scope are improvements to thedescription of roles, process goals and objectives, and consistency across thefive books and six versions of the glossary.  In recognizing this is a welcome acceptance by OGC issuesreported by troubled community of trainers, consultants and practitioners, itis a major effort.  It will taketime and prompts many questions.

This complimentary webinar, partof the Decipher the ITIL Code service, will present the facts available, andoffer opinions and suggestions to protect any investment in ITIL by activeprojects, professionals holding qualifications, and those considering a servicemanagement initiative based upon the ITIL framework.
